Subreddit Top Watch: a workflow with 8 steps, starting with Check daily and ending with Remember this id. It has one branching point.

  1. Check daily (Schedule — open its doc page)Note: Runs once a day at 9am while the browser is open.
  2. Fetch top post (Http Request — open its doc page)Note: Public, no-auth request for the single top post of the day. Change 'programming' to any subreddit.
  3. Read last-seen id (Data Store — open its doc page)Note: Reads the post id we alerted on last time. Returns { key, found, value }.
  4. Is the top post new? (IF — open its doc page)Note: True (top port) fires when the current top id differs from the stored one. First run has an empty stored value, so it alerts once.
  5. Show the alert (Show Notification — open its doc page)if trueNote: Pops a desktop notification with the new top post's title. Only runs on the True branch.
  6. Remember this id (Data Store — open its doc page)Note: Stores the id we just alerted on so the next run only notifies for the next new top post.

Overview

Watches a subreddit's top post of the day and notifies you when a new post takes the crown — public JSON, no login.

Good for

following a subreddit’s best post of the day without refreshing.

How it works

  1. Check daily

Runs once a day at 9am while the browser is open.

  2. Fetch top post

Public, no-auth request for the single top post of the day. Change 'programming' to any subreddit.

  3. Take the post id

Pulls just the top post's id out of Reddit's nested response so we can compare it.

  4. pick post Title

Pulls just the top post's id out of Reddit's nested response so we can compare it.

  5. Read last-seen id

Reads the post id we alerted on last time. Returns { key, found, value }.

  6. Is the top post new?

True (top port) fires when the current top id differs from the stored one. First run has an empty stored value, so it alerts once.

  7. Show the alert

Pops a desktop notification with the new top post's title. Only runs on the True branch.

  8. Remember this id

Stores the id we just alerted on so the next run only notifies for the next new top post.

Setup

  1. Install / enable the awflow browser extension.

Versions

  1. v2

fix some bugs in: - the retrieve of the post ID - the retrieve of the post Title - the IF condition
