Lesson 13 5 min

Run an agent on a routine

A routine runs an agent on a schedule or when a page opens or changes. It's an ordinary workflow you can open and edit.

Create a routine

Open the agent’s Routines tab and choose:

  • On a schedule: daily, weekly or a custom time.
  • When a page opens: match a site or address.
  • When a page changes: watch a price or an element.
  • Show it once: do it yourself while the agent watches; your steps are recorded as a workflow.
  • Or run one of your existing workflows.

What happens in the background

Routines run while your browser is open. Nobody is there to approve, so actions the agent’s rules mark ask are skipped and listed in Activity for you to review. Each run’s answer is saved as a chat.

Open Activity in the sidebar, under Automate, to see what your agents did, grouped by day. Entries that need you carry a Needs you tag and a Review button.

It’s a workflow

A routine is an ordinary workflow: a trigger followed by a Run agent node. Open it in the canvas to change it, for example to add steps before or after the agent. You can also put Run agent in any workflow of your own: set Agent to an @handle such as @travel (or leave aria) and write the Task in plain language.

Key takeaways

  1. A routine is an ordinary workflow, a trigger followed by a Run agent node.
  2. In the background, actions the rules mark ask are skipped and listed in Activity.
